Hi, I’m Amanda

THE CANCER THERAPIST THAT GOT CANCER….

What the actual F**k ………

You’re shocked, you weren’t expecting them to say “you have cancer”.  Your whole life is evaporating in front of your eyes - all those plans you were making and all that effort you were putting into your career or retirement.  Your brain is screaming “What happens next”?  How quickly will treatment start?  Will I have surgery, radiotherapy or the hideous and disgusting chemo?  You’re scared, you think “I might die…….  People die of cancer”…..

The immediate shock is replaced by even more voices in your head.

You considered yourself a healthy person until now, and you’re definitely not old enough for cancer.  Your brain spirals; you can only relate to the thought of looking like the people in the TV adverts.  Sadly, your experience of cancer is losing someone close to you.  You remember everything they went through….

You might be relieved to finally find out what is going on but you definitely didn’t think it would be this.  You see the road in front of you involving hospital appointments, ghastly treatments and if you do get through the treatments, how do you know you will survive and ‘IT’ won’t come back?

IF any of the above is a tiny fraction of the meltdown and thoughts inside your head right now - you’ve found the right counsellor.

IF you have been through treatment and now the psychological impact/mental toll has landed, the clinical and medical appointments have stopped and now you don’t recognise yourself, your body feels alien, broken - you’ve found the right counsellor.
